Cynthia Miranda, a lifelong Illinois resident, grew up in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood. She then moved to Cicero where she graduated from Morton East High School, earning both a high school diploma and from her advanced courses at Morton College earned certified nursing credentials.

Cynthia continued her studies at Robert Morris University and graduated on the Dean’s List with an associate’s degree in business administration.  She continued her academic pursuits and was awarded a bachelor’s degree with honors, ranking in the top 10% of her class from DePaul University in 2016.  Cynthia is currently pursuing her master’s degree in management at DePaul’s Kellstadt School of Business with an anticipated graduation date of June 2018.

Cynthia has been working in the financial service industry for 16 years.  She contributes her financial expertise to programs such as Tomorrow’s Promise, Junior Achievements, and she instructs numerous financial empowerment classes to diverse audiences. 

Proud of her heritage and her status as a first generation Latin American, Cynthia has a strong sense of community. During her undergrad and graduate studies, she has worked with board of directors in multiple nonprofit organizations to aide them in developing strategic community outreach programs, streamline processes for funding sources and to create, maintain and sustain youth empowerment programs.  In addition, she serves as a music minister at St Mary of Celle parish in Berwyn for over nine years. 

Cynthia and her three children have been Berwyn residents since 2005. Now she feels honored to have the opportunity to serve her Berwyn community and looks forward to educating, empowering and inspiring others.  She represents the first elected Latina City Treasurer in the history of the City.
