A proud U.S. naturalized citizen born in Mexico City, Edgar Garcia moved to Baltimore, Maryland with his family following devastating earthquakes in 1985. In 1986, his family moved to Cicero where Edgar graduated from Morton East High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in 1995 and was Honorably Discharged in 1999.

Edgar moved to Berwyn in 1998 with his parents, and lived in Berwyn from 1998 to 2001. He married his wife Winnie in 1999 at St. Mary of Celle Church, where they are still parishioners, and in 2003, they returned to Berwyn to raise a family. They have three children, all of whom attended Jefferson Elementary School.

In 2004, Edgar became a proud member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT). He continues to practice his craft to this day. Since 2007, he has held several positions as an officer at his Local Union. He is currently the treasurer of IUPAT Local Union #180 and is also their delegate to IUPAT District Council #14.
